I have a couple of days off this week, so bare with me. 8 1/2" x 3" bowl. I think that I should have turned it thinner. Looks a bit chunky.

You can't beat a beautifully turned walnut bowl and that's just what this is. Thinner? Maybe but it's fine as is and will prove to be much more durable in use than a thin walled bowl.

Nice work, Deane. Personally, I think the thicker walls fit the shape nicely. What did you use for the finish?

Nice piece of wood. The rounded edges on the lip seem to help hide any thickness. I like it. Well done and nice finish.

I like it. I tend to turn mine a little thicker too just because they are usually put to work right away. Finish looks really nice on this one.

It does not look clunky to me. Very nice wood and form.

The nice thing about a walnut bowl is how good stuff looks in it. I think your thickness says, "Use me for anything"....and that is a good thing. The character of the wood is great and the form is right on. Nice piece. :)

I like it! My favorite one is thick enough for 2 or 3 thin ones!

Looks good to me! Thin is fine if you just want it to just sit on a shelf and look pretty, a useable bowl like yours will look good sitting anywhere, either empty or filled with anything! Nice job!

Very nice curves, thin is usually only a concern with other turners - "normal" people like something that doesn't look like it will break if they drop it. :D This is a classic looking bowl.

Deane, you have really cranked up the ol' lathe!! Very nice on this one, and I like the heft - particularly with a dark wood like walnut. Looks great!
