quick question...I've yet to turn green wood, and forgot about a couple blanks I acquired a few months ago. They were apparently sealed when wet, and just recently as I found them, I noticed they smell and appear pretty moldy. the small mold spots are all under the wax/sealer. Is there any problem with turning the wood this way? I'm guessing I should wear a respirator just in case, but am I bound to have punky wood inside, or is this common for sealed wet wood?...
sorry for the ingnorance...

Dan

Shouldn't be a problem Dan. Use your respirator since mold is medically proven to cause respiratory problems.

Dan - mold is typical and is easily turned away. Check the wood before you start turning it and if it is really soft (punky) then just grab another piece of wood. You can turn punky wood but it is a lot of work and not anything like turning good green wood!

Have fun! Looking forward to reading how you like turning green wood!
