Hi,

Can someone please verify for me the OA length tip to tail of a 26" Disston D8 handsaw?
I've ordered one and I'm trying to see if it will fit in my tool chest I'm currently building.

Thanks in advance!

Pete

I have an 1880's era #7 that measures in at right around 31" and not over. I also have a D8 thumbhole from between the wars. I made a replacement handle for it and it measures in at right at 29". hope that helps. I made the replacement for the D8 because the origional was broken and the bottom half of the handle was missing.

If you are desperate, you could take the handle off while in the tool box. With a little fettling here and there, the handle would come off easily after taking out the screws.
