On the weekend I took a Doug Fisher workshop held at Black Forest in Calgary. Saturday he had a slide show of his work, explaining his approach and design inspiration. He then actually made a piece from start to finish showing all the steps of making an off-center turning, including the colouring techniques he uses. Sunday we all made one. If anyone has a chance to take one of his workshops, you'd really enjoy it. Here is my very first attempt at off-center turning I made yesterday.

Very neat Jim. I love Doug's pieces and have often thought of doing a version.

Looks to me you are off on a journey with new turnings. This is a great piece. I love the movement and color. I love pieces that have people scratching their heads wondering how in the world you did it. Lets see more.

You sure must be a fast learner. That is some gorgeous work. Love the interaction of color and movement.

Sounds like Doug's class would have been fun to take! Sure didn't take you long to figure out how to do an off-center turning! Nice work on the vibrant colors also! Looking forward to seeing where this takes you!
