It pains me to burn something that I paid decent $ for.
Most offcuts I have are long 4-8 footer strips aroung 3/4" by 1/2-2" and also 5-8" wide shorts under 1ft.

The strips, depending on species, would make good cutting boards. End grain for smaller pieces, or just glue the wider ones up.

The wider stuff--small boxes.

Most stuff that size in my shop goes camping with us and gets burned.

You'll be amazed at how good it feels to burn that mountain of scraps. All of that stress you're feeling about what to do with it goes up in smoke. Besides that, you get to reminisce about each project as you toss its cutoffs into the fire.

Igor,

Do a search here for Folding Furniture and my name. The size of your off-cuts is perfect for building folding chairs and tables and the design I shared is easy to fabricate.

Igor,

What types of wood are we talking about here? 3/4" square pieces about 5" long make perfect pen blanks... if the wood is cool, people will buy them.

I burn some of my scrap. I love the smell of burning Cherry wood but most of my scraps I turn on my lathe making pens, bottle stoppers and spindles. Some I glue up and turn a bowl for a funky look.

I'm using off cuts to make a new set of winding sticks, and I have some small chunks of walnut that I'm thinking of using for a matching set of squares, marking gauges, dovetail marking guides, etc.

Thank you for all ideas!
I'll try to start with cutting boards; not sure how easy would it be to glue up smaller piece sizes. I used to make them from glueing up longer pieces then cutting into stripes and glueing them into end grain boards.
Getting lathe is in my plans but probably not this year unless I find some good deal.

Thin strips can also be used to make a bread board...

Depending on size of wood, may want to check in with local school (arts or woodworking?) or cub scouts/4h/etc. to see if they have any use for them.

There's a house down the street that's been on the market for some time. I'm sure the owner's would be willing to take any semi reasonable offer. ;)

That way, I could run by any time and take all those pieces of "burnables" off your hands :D

I could whip out ~ 4 to 6 rosettes from each of those shorts in no time @ all.
4' to 8' pieces in the 1.5 to 2" range can be used for so many things I don't know where to start.
