Walnut and Maple Entertainment Center

I just completed an entertainment center for the wife with walnut and maple. This is only my second original design. Well, as original as any piece can be. Some of the design elements were inspired by Thomas Moser (floating cabinet, reverse tapered legs, etc.). The finish is simply Maloof's oil/poly wipe on finish. Feedback is welcomed.

I did make the accents. The candles were a Christmas gift for my wife. The bowls are a couple I recently turned. One is a segmented bowl with purple heart, maple, and walnut. It was and incredible amount of work just to get to a turning form...

Eventually there will be a coffee table and end table to match. However, since my son is only 16 months, I think I am going to hold off for a few year until I'm confident he won't run his hot wheels of the top...

I know this is a rather old thread originally, but I was curious how the case was supported. Is it only suspended from the top or is there some form of hidden support underneath the case?

Great work BTW this is a very clean design and an entertainment cabinet is on the to make list and this will certain inspire my design!

I have the cabinet supported two different ways. The first is roughly 24 #12 screws that are countersunk from the underside of the cabinettop and screwed into the bottom side of the support fram. The second is I used smal 2"x2" L brackets that I painted black. They are attached to the under side of the cabinet and then to the inside of the legs. With them painted black, you can't hardly tell they are there.

Thanks for the compliments. I haven't been able to get any time in the shop since this project, other than small, quick projects. I can't wait to get back to woodworking. Hopefully one of these days life will quit happening, and I will find the time.
