Crazy cool! My first big street bike was also the first street superbike, a 1979 Yamaha XS11 bought brand new at Santa Fe Yamaha. Man I miss that bike.

Do you have some stats on that? Horsepower, torque, 0-300 mph?

196hp 122ft/lb torque - never been on the strip but all kinds of videos in the low 10s and 9s stock on you tube. Its all in the rider and I am not that good for sure! Check it out. Mine did 86 in 3rd gear and was not redlined (9500-11500 is redline). In 4th I blipped it to pass 3 cars and was at 118 instantly. Stock it is 140mph limited but an easily purchased Yamaha ECU (from any dealer or on Ebay) or reflash of stock ECU gets you 1-1 throttle response (vs 3-1 stock) and 168mph.

196hp! Back in the 80's I put a big bore kit & stage II cams in my 11 and I was only getting ~105hp. It was fast in it's day but a dog compared to today.

The bike I traded in on this, an '05 warrior, was 101hp as well and was no slouch. The Vmax is just in a different league than the usual cruiser.

Sweet bike Mike, the vmax is wicked fast. I used to have a V65 Honda and my roommate had a vmax, not even close. His tail light was all I ever saw of that bike.

My first bike was a VMAX back in 1985. I wasn't exactly a mature adult then and I remember doing a few things on it that I regret. It got to the point that I was actually scared of the bike because of my own immaturity. After seeing yours it makes me want to get another. At this stage in my life though, I think I am more of a Goldwing or Ultra classic touring bike kind of guy. One thing I do remember about the VMAX was the sheer acceleration of it.

It would turn a few heads cruising past our local Sonic drive in, but i will stick with my Goldwing.
