Has anyone tried this before? Any gotchas I should look out for?

Silver tarnishes and most folk use either jewellery cleaner containing phosphoric acid , which strips the Cermark mark or they use an abraisive polish like silvo or brasso and that too damages the mark - best not to do metals that require cleaning regularily (same applys to low carat gold or brass)

Rodney is right on the money. I had some sterling medallions to engrave a couple of months ago and couldn't get Cermark to stick no matter how slow I lasered it. I ended up creating photo resists and sandblasting them with 180 grit and paint filling, they turned out perfect and the customer was very happy.

Thanks for the input. I declined the job and referred them to someone who could sandblast/color fill.
