I am designing and making a music stand which will be a combination of ideas culled from the web. I am making the adjustment column square and am thinking of using a piece of t-track for infinite adjustment along the length. A bolt will come through the stationary column and a knob will secure the stand at the desired height. My problem is I cannot find brass or bronze knobs threaded for 1/4- 20, or t-track bolts that are 10-32. My back-up is to make my own wooden knobs with threaded brass inserts, but I was wondering if anyone knew of a place to buy decorative knobs with 1/4-20 threads?

Thanks,
Ron Robinson

Head over to McMaster-Carr and do a search for "weld nuts" - that was what we always used in 80/20 extrusion as T-Nuts since they were so much cheaper than buying them from 80/20.

Part number 98001A125 looks like it might work for you - that's a 10-32 weld nut with a center tapped hole. There's also a version in 18-8 Stainless.

Not brass, but a lot of options and the price is right.

scroll down towards the bottom of this page and you'll find 1/4 -20 brass knobs cheap. If you call I think you can get a good deal on shipping as well.
