I glued up the pieces of red oak for this mallet on Monday evening & then turned it last night. Its just your basic mallet but my friend really liked it.

I can see why he would like it.
Very nice job, Bart.

It looks nice. Sometimes the quick and fast projects are the best. I am sure you will love it when in 10 years he is still using your mallet.

Nice work, Bart!
I don't see any reason anyone wouldn't want one of those. It may be "simple" in design and appearance, but nevertheless there is still a lot of work and skill to produce one as nice as your's.
Thanks for sharing

Nice work Bart. Did you put any weight in it? If so, what is a good supply of lead to weight mallets et al.
Thanks

No I didn't weight it. With the oak head it seems plenty heavy. I suppose you could use lead shot. Or buy fishing weight & re-melt it.

Bart, rather than buy fishing weights why not go to the local hardware store and buy billits of lead? 5lbs cost about $6.00. That much fishing weights would cost about $30.00. Just thought I'd add my .02.

As it turned out the mallet is just the right weight.
Even if it needed a little weight it would only be a few oz's.
