In the state of Washington every student must complete a Culminating Project as a requirement for graduation from high school. My son, Nick, chose to make a Kendama. It was very fun to learn how to make something new. Most importanly it was time spent with my son helping him learn new skills and to watch him develop an appreciation for why I have been drawn so far into the vortex!

That is so cool!!!! John, I know that you will always treasure that time. I have no idea what the item is that he turned, but then, it doesn't really matter, does it? :) Also nice to know that WA is requiring something that actually seems to matter, way to go WA !!

Time spent with your son=priceless.

Cool John - I take it a Kendama is one of those catch-the-ball-on-the-stick thingies? Glad you got the father/son moment.

Shop time together is priceless. And, as a bonus, he got some really nice lines in this turning and a great job on the sphere.

First I'd heard of one of those things - so had to look it up. Pretty cool and he sure got the design right! Nice work! Had to have been a lot of fun spending time together in the shop! Thanks for sharing!
