I'm going to be turning a shallow bowl form tonight and I'm having trouble picturing what shape I want. So far I've been considering either a very shallow bowl with slightly angled sides (one step up from a platter) or perhaps something like an offering plate shape. The blank is only about 2.5 inches thick. Do any of you have pictures of shallow bowls you could post so I can get a mental idea of where I am headed as I work?

My favorite bowl form is the ogee - This bowl is 8.5" x 1.5".

You don't say how wide your blank is. 2.5" could be a very deep bowl with a smaller blank. You should consider a waste block to conserve depth if that is a concern.

Wow! That shape looks great! I think I'll give it a try. Thanks!

Here is where I am at with the outside shaping. Not sure that I can pull off an ogee and not destroy it. Any suggestions on where to go from here?
