I know what this wood is, spalted maple. Another simple bowl, but Mother Nature is the true artist and I just need to not screw it up. Finish is AO, buffed, Ren Wax. Size is 11.5"x4.5". C&C welcome.

Man that is a beautiful piece of wood Philip, you did a very good job on the bowl as well, I really like the rims that are tilted out just a little like this one is, makes it a lot more appealing to me...now if I could just do that myself!.lol

Sometimes, the "simplest" forms are the hardest to pull off. Everything depends on one line. This one is as good as it gets. Wood ain't bad either...

That shape makes me want to reach out and pick it up. I'll bet it feels good in your hands.

That's a beautiful piece. Spalted Maple is great to work with especially when you get results like that.

Perfect form, perfect wood - how much better can it get!! I love working with spalted maple - except when it has crossed the line into punky. Then, the finishing process seems to take away all the fun. But, this one seems to have been caught at just the right moment. Great job, Philip!

I like the form and the wood, was the wood soft in places? It looks solid.
