Bob,

Looks like a nice lathe you picked up. In looking at some of your posts, it appears that you are (were) a flatboarder. So was I until my wife bought me a Jet 1642. This woodturning thing is a true vortex. Go find your camera, take a picture of your wallet with all the money that you have it right now because once you start turning, you will never see that much money again. This way you will have some lovely turning tools, wood and of course the photo of your spent money.

I live outside of Rochester, NY. You list yourself as living in western New York. Are you close by?

Congrats again and cheers,
David

Rob, it is finally a reality!!! I know you will be glad to get this thing set up and spinnin'. Now, you can transfer all of that flatwork experience to round things! Congrats!

David im in Jametown so im not to far from you at all. My shop is the underside of my deck right now it was a screened in porch at one time but a couple years ago we redid it an just left it all open I do have a nice roof over my head however. It good dust control but can get cold in the winter so a actual shop is in order soon. I can wait to get this thing spinning the weekend is coming!!!!

Wait.....you need to buy or build a photo tent, lighting, glare/bounce boards, tripod, light/dark faded backdrop.....Now you are ready to take a respectable picture of your wallet. :D:D:D

That Delta model was not available when I started. It looks like a great starter lathe. Welcome to the vortex.
