I find it quite unusual..the top so deep into the bowl, but it sure is pretty.

I think it is interesting. The knob looks bluish. Was that the intent or just the maple not taking the dye well? I think I would make the knob black then pyro the rim to make it look a little more like a gnarly NE edge of the bowl. My 2 cents.

I like the bowl and very much like the shape and finial of the lid. I am not a fan of them together. Not sure what it is, but that is of course, IMHO

Fine work, Sir. Very, very fine. Love the form and, of course, Maple Burl always displays well. You should be proud of this one!

Interesting piece, Bob. I think it needs lift. The base/foot is fairly wide and the overall look is pretty flat. That is going to present issues with a pedestal, but it might be worth considering if you want to add something to it. Beautiful wood.

Pretty wood and an interesting form. I agree with JK about lift, but I wonder if the angle of the photo hides some of the lift you've incorporated with the curve and foot. It's different, but I like it.

Very pretty wood and an interesting design. Reminds me very much of an old butter dish.(When it came in squares)

Interesting design Bob! Not 100% about it but it is growing on me! The wood sure is pretty and you did a great job bringing it to life!

Thanks for the insights and ideas folks-that's how we learn. I agree the piece could use more lift and will give some thought to a pedestal as John suggests. The color of the knob is just the way the maple took the stain.

I like it, though it is different. From the last pic, it looks like it has a little more lift than is apparent in the first two. Very nice wood too.
