View Full Version : Amp draw of Fein vacuum?

I've got a couple of Fein II vacuums that I use for the vacuum table on the CNC router. They run with no air flow. I know larger dust collectors run with less amperage when all blast gates are closed. Because vacuums are different than dust collectors, I was wondering if the same is true for the vacuum, ie will they run at lower amperage when used in my application. Trying to decide if I can run both of them for long periods of time on 1 20 amp circuit.

Thanks,
Perry

Well, the smartest thing would be to get a meter and measure your vacs.

But my testing of my Ridgid indicates little (less than 20%, IIRC) difference in draw when closing the inlet vs. leaving it wide open.

These guys are big Fein dealers. Ask them.

You can easily run them on that 20A circuit.

On high speed, my Turbo II and Turbo III each draw 9.5-9.7A with free air flow. This declines to 6.6A or so with zero air flow. Since they have soft start, there is no higher current draw at startup .

FWIW, I have used both of them at once plus a sander attached to each on one 20A circuit. The vacuums were running around 50-75% speed.

Thanks Greg, just what I wanted.
