Hi All,

I have a question about making raised panel doors with regard to their size. If I have a 12 x 24 inch opening how big should my door be?

Thanks in advance,
John

If an inset door -- gap of 1/16" to 3/32" depending on humidity swings in your area and maybe even time of year you cut them (less when high humidity, more when low humidity?). For overlay doors, 1/4" to 1/2" is what I use -- hinge you pick needs to support the overlay you choose.

Hi Jim,
Thanks for the input, I am making a reproduction Ice Box so I was thinking 1/4 to 3/8 of an inch overlay do to the width of the latch catches on the face frame. I didn't think of this as I was making a copy of an original and the type of latches and catches that were used are darn near impossible to find, long and short of the matter I should have made the center section of the face frame 2 1/2" instead of 2" to accomidate the hardware.

Thanks again
John

Possible to add 1/4" strip to each side of the center stile? Glue line may not be obvious and could be covered by door, anyway?
