For the life of me I can't remember where I recently saw a bandsaw jig for cutting the rings for a "Bowl from a Board" it had a sliding center board cut sort of like a dovetail and a dowel cut in half used as the pivot point.... I would be thankful if my vague description rings any bells and someone here can point me to a picture of it.

Thank you,
Tim

This is the one I use. It sounds like the one you are looking for. Size it to fix you bandsaw.

I have a cd of music from Yankee Celtic Consort. It's got several jigs, and a few reels too. :D

This is to a bowl from a board with dovetails. I doesn't go into the bandsaw jig very much but it has a cool out come.

Great jig picture Bill!

Would you happen to have any plans for that bandsaw circle jig? It's similar to the plans in one of the books I have. I tried to make it but I just didn't want to spend any money on all the doo-dads it required for making the jig. In addition, it wasn't as sturdy as yours is, and if built more sturdy would have taken up a lot more of my height distance. Your design alleviates that problem...

I made one using Woodsmith plans:

Worked well for me.

Hey Jim,

The picture you posted is very close to what I recall seeing, the pivot point will be a 1-1/2 inch diameter dowel that's approx. 1-1/2 inches tall set into a 1-1/2 inch hole in the sliding dove tails piece. The top portion of the dowel that will be sticking up 3/4 inch will be cut in half to provide a flat surface that will mate with the center point of the half circle that is being cut into rings.

Thank you for the pic.

Tim
