Hopefully somebody has an idea what is going on.

I have a Dell Inspiron mini netbook. A couple of days ago, my wife turned off the wireless card -- this is done by one of Crtl/Alt/Fn F2 (I can't remember which one specifically). Well, now it won't turn back on. My first guess was that it was just simply a malfunctioning key, but they are all working (tested through other means).

Any thoughts?

Cheers,

Chris

Have you checked in device manager to see if it shows up or is disabled? You may have to detect new hardware to get it back

Click on start button,
Right click on Computer
Right click on Properties
Open Device Manager.
Open Network Adapters
Look for your wireless adapter.
Right click on that item
Open Properties
There should be a box to enable that item

To enable wireless:
1. Turn on your computer.
2. Double-click the icon on the system tray or press <F2>.
The Wireless Enable/Disable dialog box appears.
3. Select the option(s) you want to enable
Enable Bluetooth––
Enable Wireless LAN––
Click OK.

Got it back -- thanks.

We went into the device manager before, and it showed the card as enabled. This time, I disabled and re-enabled it, and all of the sudden the F2 option worked. Don't know why it needed that, but I have it back and that is what is important.

Thanks,

Chris

Another fine example of how valuable our friends on SMC are when it comes to things in the real world.

You're using Windows. Nuff said.

I miss the days of OS/2.
