Ok I just finished cleaning my table saw on the inside. I wasn't sure if I should clean the pictured part or not but it had that cosmoline stuff on it so I cleaned it off. The problem is Im not sure if I should lube (I did move it around and it seemed like it was pretty well lubed to me, but my dad seems to think that since I cleaned it I should relube it) it or not and if so what should I use. Also should I spray it with boeshield? If you need anymore info to better help me with this question ask away.

Allen you may want to rethink your post(need help w/pics). Peolple think you need help with posting pictures and not help with your saw. I don't think it would hurt to regrease.

I haven't tried it but I have heard that the spray lubricant used for bicycle chains is good stuff for lubing the working inner parts of a table saw. You have to be careful with very much sticky grease as that causes sawdust to stick to the gears and might cause problems.

I thought I read somewhere to use parafin wax, you know, like candles. But you could also use a dry lubricant... it comes in a spray can and you spray it on and then it drys. I used it in my Shopsmith when I put it back together and it seemed to work pretty good. One of these days I'll clean out my Jet Contractor Saw and lube it up too.

In a recent WOOD magazine (issue 160) there was a brief review for a "machine lube that doesn't collect dust" called "PG2000 Penetrating Lubricant". I have not tried it yet, but I intend to.

Everything you need to know about TS lubing..

I use paste wax for the trunion tilt and raising lowering mechanism and basically follow the FWW article to the T. Their method is cheap, easy and works great.
