My friend Mel and I made a rainy-day trip to Omaha again last Thursday! This time, to pick up this pretty-much pristine Delta 14" 5hp RAS. It's missing the elevation crank handle and some water blew under the tarp to swell the MDF table, but I'm not complaining.
I suppose the reason it sold so low on eBay was because of the 200V 3-phase motor--unusable for all but a few with that sort of commercial power.
Bidding on the beast just seemed like the right thing to do, since I have another 5hp 230v 3-phase motor in my "rathole"! The saw went for only $100.99 on eBay. Gas and eats on the 12 hr. round trip were about $200. And I have less than $200 in the extra motor.
That's a Big 5hp 1995 Delta RAS for about $500! Not bad at all for an RAS in this kind of shape, rather than those that sat out, uncovered, in the elements for too-many years.
Maybe I can sell the 200V motor for a few bucks to recover some of my gas money! Time will Tell. Meanwhile, life is good!
