This is from a piece of Koa from Hawaii. About 7" x 4", sanded to 400, blo, then wipe on poly. I found that applying the wipe-on poly after putting the piece back on the lathe, then spinning at a low speed, there is less lint or dust that lingers.

Good sized HF Tom...finish looks good and the lid looks like it fits well

Tom this is a very nice box, I really like how you made that lid to, very nice! And that is a beautiful piece of wood, I have never had the pleasure of turning koa yet maybe someday.

Very nice Tom - the koa looks really good and I like the lid style.

Beautiful piece, Tom. The surface that it's sitting on gives it the illusion that it is a miniature piece. Koa is great wood. It happens to be my favorite.

Nicely done. Koa is a favorite of mine, too. Looks like you lucked into a nice little bit of curl on that chunk as well.
