I did a while back using Padauk and Maple measuring 4-1/2" diameter X 1-3/4 deep.
Finished with 6 coats of Minwax Clear Satin Poly and
polished with Hut Ultra Gloss.

Super lidded bowl Les and the finish is up to your standard wonderful finish. Looks like 60 coats of poly rather than 6. I love the contrast of timbers you used.

Wow Les that is a really nice piece. I love the wood contrast and the finish is superb.

Nice one, Les!! As others have noted, the finish is deep. Did you fill the grain on the Padauk? I have some that I have not yet tried, and it looks to have a very open grain.

I filled the open grain with a slurry of sanding dust and WOP.
