This is a 12" diameter Walnut Platter Finish is 7 coats of Minwax Antique Oil. Comments welcome!

Sweet! You could put a stick under that and call it a table. Surface looks to be very even, and the wood is gorgeous.

Nicely done! The form has a Shaker feel which I like.

Beautifully done!! Until one attempts to turn a dead flat surface - it seems so easy. You did an excellent job.

Yup, those dead flat bottoms can be fun for sure. That's a beautiful platter there, clean and simple!

Nice job George.
Is the bottom flat as well, or does it have a foot?

Very nice. I have a nice piece of walnut that I would like to turn into a platter but since it is wet I'm trying to figure out how to keep it from warping. Did you turn this out of wet or dry walnut? If it was wet did you turn it twice or did you just turn it to the finish dimension?
Thanks,
Paul

Paul it was dry from a 2" board.

Anything from walnut is pretty. But I like the simple design of the platter that lets the wood be the focal point.

Ah, what a pretty piece. Elegant in it's simplicity, yet anyone who has tried to turn a large flat surface knows how hard it can be. The walnut is just wonderful on this platter.

Well done, a piece like that will be perpetually in style.
