190955190954Thought I would share a recent project. This medallion was cut from 1/8" masonite. The letters were glued onto a masonite sheet with the rastered background pattern, then glued to 1/2" MDF disk. The worm was sculpted from clay. I will make a silicone mold and cast in urethane resin with a bronze powder and finish to look as if cast in bronze. The customer will affix these to his wood, elevated, garden planters -- gives them a stinger bling. 45W Helix.

The disk is 10" dia.

Looks great , here's a tip if you aren't already doing this : The casting will be very expensive if you cast solid , what you do is paint the inside of the mould with the urethane/bronze powder mix and then let the "skin" cure , fill with plaster of paris or any cheap filler and then use some more of your cold cast resin/metal mix for the back (If you need to do the back to make it look like a solid bronze medallion)

Yes, I do this regularly, it can save half the medium costs. Thanks Rodne.
