I have an opportunity to get one from a guy on a spearfishing forum I frequent. He says its in good shape, and only wants me to build him a speargun in exchange for it. Hes even going to give me the teak for the gun, so I just have to cover parts....maybe $150.00 total...well 200 after I drive down to get it.

Assuming it is in as good of condition as he says, is this a good deal? I was originally hoping to save up for an 8" jointer, but who knows, maybe I will be able to re-sell it for the same amount I have into it.

What are your thoughts?

The 1182HW was rated #1 by Wood in 2001. It's from the same factory as the former Jet, GI, Sunhill, Bridgewood, Woodtek, and others....a very well proven machine with a solid history. Worth the price IMHO, and will suffice until you run into a deal on an 8".

I just sold mine for 280 with extra blades. It was a great jointer. I outgrew the size.
