This Osage Orange tree was cut down less than a week ago----no finish on them yet.
The HF cracks are filled in with crushed stone to high light them.

The HF is my favorite, nice form. I don't see many pieces with this orientation but it looks good.

Gary,
That is a nice trio! The HF is a bit in the Ellsworth genre...........I have seen him do the same grain orientation and the cracking in the pith became a feature in some of his pieces. I like the bowl with the pepsi can in it, looks very functional. How will you finish these pieces?
I know from experience that you can finish Osage Orange to a point it will be as smooth and shine like a billiard ball.

I plan on doing a oil and buff finish on these. I have a home made 12 inch buffer that works perfect for this job.

The bowls are great but the HF is my favorite. It has a bit of an earthen vessel look to it.
It's too bad about that blue can in there, red is much better. :D:D

Looks like the HF is the favorite. I am on that bandwagon. Really a cool looking form Gary.
