A 24" blade driven by a 3 HP motor on 115 VAC (44 AMP power cord!) via a 4" flat belt - YOWSA !!! That's old school there - nice to see pre-OSHA stuff as long as you don't have to be anywhere near it when they hit the ON button :)

Didn't I see this in a Mad Max movie?

That motor looks big enough to jump start a battleship...

3hp for a 24" blade doesn't seem like enough.

Repulsion induction motors handle loads much better than our present day standard induction motors. The pre 1955 or so Unisaws had 1 1/2 hp repulsion induction motors and they drove those saws about the same as the newer Unisaws with 3 hp induction motors. That said, an old 3 hp repulsion induction motor is likely the equivalent of a 6 hp induction motor. I'll bet it runs that 24" blade just fine. It's way too big for me, but I would sure love to see it and maybe try it outb. The owner should post it on owwm.com if for no other reason than to stake it's place in history.

If you did, it would be a "Rat Saw".
