Pre-finishing Cumaru Deck Boards

I am doing a cumaru deck project and have been arguing with a colleague about the finish. He thinks I should pre-finish all four sides and think that might be a bit of a waste of my time. The supplier thinks it is a waste of time. What do you guys think?

• Use ¼" spacing for 6" boards
• Insure adequate cross ventilation under deck
• Use stainless steel fasteners
• Pre-drilling is required
• Seal end cuts with Anchor seal
• Apply a finish on all four sides
