I made this today. It is for a relative who is getting married soon. One coat of walnut oil at this time, I will add some bees-wax in a few days. The bowl is 14 inches diameter, it is thick at the rim but about 3/8" thick elsewhere.

That's a beautiful piece of Elm! I'd like to see how you make the servers, maybe that could be your next demo? ;-)

I like that a LOT!!! Very figured wood, and your utensils are really nice as well.............You put a great form on that salad bowl.....like the rim area a lot. Too bad the utensils could not be made from the same blank............that would have made it perfect.

That is just gorgeous! I don't think I've seen spalted elm before. I'd like to see how you made the servers too. I predict that is going to be a big hit.

Great set and great gift Dennis. Just a suggestion but put their wedding date on the bottom.

That's a beautiful bowl Dennis and it's going to make a great gift. Did you make the servers also? I like them too.
