I have a Rockwell 43-205 shaper. I hve had it for 30 years and it needs new spindle bearings or cartridge. Can I repair this myself?? I cannot find any information about this problem anywhere. Can anyone help??

go over to OWWM.org, there is a fellow named Richard that rebuilds them for a very reasonable price.

Or (easier) google Richard and Jamie's Store
(same richard, good person to deal with.)

Another vote for Richard and his on-line store. He has rebuilt two spindle cartridges for me. He charges about $75 for the rebuild and it takes about a week. Since the correct end play and preload are very important when rebuilding a shaper cartridge, it's not something you want to try to do yourself.

One more vote for Richard-- He can also supply spindles, etc. Maybe you could do it yourself, but for 75 dollars it will be professionally redone, so why bother. I would recommend a new spindle at the same time.

Overall, a great service.

Thank you, Roy. I went to their site and was completely flabergasted to find exactly what I need. I will be doing business with them. Thank you, John.
