Over the past couple of years I've bought most of my lumber from KJP Hardwoods in Ottawa. I fully realize how lucky Ottawa woodworkers are to have such a great place in the neighbourhood! No affiliation but I still think they should issue bibs at the door!

It really puts the place I get my wood to shame. Just the opening picture is three times better.

My web browser filtered it as p0rn.

As well it should :)

You guys saw a picture of a wood store? Opening pic to me looks like piles of gold bricks?

I routinely drive from Montreal to Ottawa to purchase wood from KJP.
Great service too.
No affiliation, just like the place.

I wish they would post some prices... I wouldn't mind ordering some of the more off-the-wall stuff, but no prices. I like how Cook Woods lists prices and pics of every piece... more work on their part, but I don't have to guess or call.

I would agree...Gilmer certainly has some wonderful wood! KJP has only been around for about 3 years and things just keep getting better each year. They certainly set the standard around here! Bernie is probably in his late 50's and says that he plans on being in business for a long time. My last purchase there was 8 pieces of clear hard maple shorts at 50 cents per pound. Each board was 3-4 feet long and a full 5/4 thick. I also picked up some 1/4" quartersawn oak for 50 cents a pound. I left with a decent stack of wood for less than $30, not a bad deal for a hobby woodworker.

Y'all come on up and bring a few decent hockey players with you! Take the lumber home and leave the players in Ottawa!

It's like they say "If you have to ask, you probably cannot afford it". Like a fancy French restaurant where they don't show the prices in the menu. lol

It's an issue of convenience, as well as quality control... not only do I want to know how much I would pay to get piece 'X', I'd like to see if what I'm paying for piece 'X' is worthwhile. Gilmer Woods is another well-labeled site.

Actually their prices are more than reasonable.
