Here at sawmillcreek, other forums and blogs, ive come across people using slang/abbreviation - example: WOP sanding, BLO sanding and sealing (dont know what eather mean), TS (table saw), BS (band saw), RAS (Radial Arm Saw), etc.

Most of the time a google search will result in an explantion, but sometimes it takes time to search for.

Are there any reference pages/threads/blogs/articals that "you" know of to help out people who are just getting into woodworking ?

Thanks for any help.

What a list! I now have it all memorized........ What a joke!
........................... Is there not enough room or time to spell the words out each time? (My pet peve) I am often seen talking to my monitor screen says..." is there not enough room to fit the whole name in here?

I am amazed how many of those acronyms I now know; whew. Force of habit from my line of work; I will generally spell the term the first time it is used and then use the acronym for the following occurrences. . . . but not always.

Joe, FWIW, I am guilty of your pet peeve. It does save time, though. JMHO. But, you are right that Google search usually will explain it for you. DAMHIKT. :D LOML was ROFL. She thinks I'm a nut...

EDIT:

Just so I don't catch too much flack...

FWIW....For What it's Worth
JMHO....Just My Humble Opinion
DAMHIKT.... Don't Ask Me How I Know That
LOML....Love Of My Life
ROFL....Rolling On Floor Laughing

When somebody uses an acronim to show everybody on this blog how cool he (or she) actually is & I don't recognize the term, I usually just write a response that goes something like "what are you talking about?".

I do the same when I read a post that has just numbers as a discription of a tool. Like " do you like the PBY4302 ?"

There are a number of them in the list where I just learned an alternate translation.......one that can be used in polite conversation. :p
