Spent the day with fellow creeker Jeff Myroup and another Illina Woodturner in the community wood lot. These tree trunks are too big to run through the chipper and they put them to the side to haul to a bigger chipper. It is nice of them to sought out the big ones for us. Pics show the pile and some box elder and white ash I bought home.

Well,

Looks like you and Jeff and Gary had a very productive day. Nice stuff. Love that box elder.

I did not get a PM, but I could not make it today anyway. Maybe next time.

Hey, Bob, where is this place? If it's not too far from Aurora, I might try to get out there.

David it is in Chicago Heights. You ought to come visit us at the Illiana woodturners too.

Just about every municipality has a place where they store logs cut in the city or town. You probably can call the city hall or streets and sans department and see if they allow cutting of firewood. The only stipulation for us was to sign a waiver. The trees in the pictures were soft maple, box elder, green ash, white ash, sycamore and some others. Jeff got a small box elder burl, but we were hoping for some birds eye or fiddle maple. They told me there were a lot more on the streets but the city can't afford to cut them all.

That is some pretty wood! And more than enough to keep you busy!
