I bought only my second new power tool EVER today as an early BDay present to myself. Does anyone have experience, hints, tips or general observations on the JET model JWP-12-DX 12 1/2" thickness planer? It seems solid set up out of the box, but I won'tbe able to give it a test run until I get a stand built for it tomorrow.

Sorry no pictures. Maybe next year for my BDay I'll get a digital camera.

Congrats on the planer! IMHO they are one of the handiest tools in the shop. I use mine on every project!

No experience with that particular model, but I agree with the others...a planer is a very nice thing to have in the shop. It's one of the three essential tools in the "work triangle" and will give you a lot of lattitude on material thickness as well as help you start to save money through purchase of rough lumber. Congratulations!

I wondered if anyone had one of these. I'm sure it will be a great machine for you. I know cause I no longer have my Delta...

Peter -

Congratulations on your new planer. You now have a whole new window of flexibility WRT material and dimensions.
