A seller here has a pair of stout looking old Powermatic lathes for $300. I'm not sure if that's each or both, doesn't really matter as I'm looking at them as "each." What are these beasts? What would I check for regarding their condition, and what would be involved in remotoring them to run on 120v power? No, I don't plan on turning 5' bowls on them.

Oh yeah... Those are PM90's. Possibly the best lathes ever made in this country. Hard to judge their condition from the pics but they are certainly worth consideration, especially at that price. Motor swaps are easy. If they are complete and in reasonably good working order, I would jump on em.

Give Mike Cruz a ring... we picked up one of these for his shop at auction late last year and he has spent the last several months repainting, rebuilding, etc. It's a serious workhorse... and it's also a serious piece of arn. Bring a backhoe to load it into the truck! I believe it's in the 400+ pound range.
