The 1st turning from my Pistachio haul. It's about 5x5 with 1/8" walls with just a good coat of BLO so far, I'll give it several coats of WOP after it's dried a bit.
The pics don't do justice to the color. I really like the contrast with the sapwood and heartwood, but I probably should have turned it a little narrower so there would have been a little less sapwood, but I wanted it wide so it is what it is.
I considered adding a collar, but since this was green wood I know the neck will probably move a bit so getting a good fit to stay a good fit probably wasn't going to happen.

All comments (positive or otherwise) welcome!

WOW, Kathy. That is fantastic. I love the form and the finish looks very nice as is (IMO). BUT, that chunk of wood is unbelievable. YOu have sure progressed with your hollow forms. This one is spot on, for my taste. Very very nice.

Kathy, the consistent and pleasing curve of this form is wonderful, and the wood is a special treat. That pistachio appears to be a very tight grained wood - and, the finish you achieved on a wet piece of wood is amazing. I am duly impressed with this one!!

Kathy.........I think you "nailed" the form on this one! Great curve, shoulder is just right, and of course the wood is stunning. I would say you brought the best out of this blank!

I can see why you were excited with your pistachio haul. Beautiful color, form and finish. It has such nice warmth with just the oil.

You really did this lovely wood justice in this piece. The shape is very pleasing and especially like the rim treatment. The contrast really makes it pop. I would not change a thing.

WOW! This is excellent!

Outstanding wood, grain, contrast and color but I absolutely love the form! Very hard to turn a truly good heart shape and you did it! Seriously - excellent turning and one in which you should be proud! Thanks for sharing!

Sweet looking piece. I'm extra glad to see this because I have some pistachio that I got last summer and I've been wondering what it's going to look like.
