I was there too. I met George Guadiane (and enjoyed one of his presentations). I saw a couple of others that I think might have visited here. We need to have lablel, pin, or something that identifies us as Creekers before we get to the AAW symposium in St. Paul.

I was really impressed by the scope and planning that the show required. This show is put on by the local club, Northeast Woodworkers Association (NWA), and even though they have ~1000 members it still takes a lot of work and organization.

I put two bowls into the gallery but didn't win anything. There were some really amazing pieces entered in the show. My emotion at losing wasn't disappointment but rather envy.

The lectures were really good too. I saw all three of Richard Raffan's and picked up his new book on making boxes.

Cheers,
David

I was there bouncing around the place taking pictures (see other thread) and learning as much as I could. I am glad you enjoyed it. Every time I go to one of these symposiums I learn so much.

Yes, it is all put on by volunteers, and is an amazing feat. Note, the NWA is the parent wood working organization that handles the Showcase and vendor portion, but the Adirondack Woodturners Association (AWA) is actually the largest drive behind the symposium.

I was there as well. I stopped to see some friends at the turning side and my two sons 10 and 8 years old got to turn their first wooden pens. The NWA is an amazing group of people. The showcase is always worth the trip.
