These have been great sellers for me!

Les, Beautiful work! I've made some of these too, and have had one engraved for a friend who is a retired Marine pilot. Question - what do you sell them for?

188819Les, Can you explain the "dipping method" to me, I've made a few of those with the kits from penn state ind, but every time I attempted to coat the casing with laquer it turned an off color and peeled after a few weeks of use. Here is my attempt. Round is a piece of black gold matrix true stone. Engraving was lasered with cermark.

Scott,

This is what I use of a Lacquer coating of all my brass Cartridge pens:

To finish the brass cartridge and copper bullet to avoid tarnishing, first clean the Brass Cartridge and Copper Bullet with Liquid Brasso, polish with FLITZ and wipe down with Lacquer Thinner.

Apply 4 coats of Sherwin - Williams Opex Clear Acrylic Metal Lacquer thinned with Lacquer Thinner to a 40% Lacquer and 60% Lacquer Thinner mixture.

I use the dipping method to accomplish this, first by plugging the bullet nib hole with Bee’s Wax, install a piece of tight fitting dowel into the 7mm brass tube and install a piece of tight fitting dowel into the cartridge casing neck.

I use a tall glass jar a dip the bullet and cartridge and blot off the drips with a piece of blue shop towel saturated in lacquer thinner and hang vertically to dry.

Excellent, I'm going to the store now to pick up some supplies, thanks for sharing....the shine from the laquer is beautiful.
