Wow Patrick!...that thing is huge! I like the shape better now I understand how big it is. Going to have some great color when it's finished.

Wow! That's a cool piece! Do you have to dry it before you can continue or is it already dry?

Cool pot Patrick, the figure in the maple or spalting is really nice. What you gonna use the pot for?

Great BIG pot. Fill it with money and send it to me. I could use a lathe like that. LOL, and I promise to send your pot back.

Not that it looks trashy but I was thinking waste basket beside a desk when I first saw it. Will be impressive whatever its purpose!

Wow, that's a big piece to turn. Must have been waist deep in shaves by the time it was done.

Really cool! First thoughts were that it would make for a great cookie jar! Looking forward to seeing it finished!

I'm trying to imagine what kind of monster chuck keeps this thing attached to the machine, or what monster face plate is used to turn off the tenon!

hey dan,
I just used 3inch face plate at first, then strong hold chuck during the hollowing phase.

Patrick, that is an impressive turning!! Looks more like Ambrosia maple than spalted, but very nice either way. Not sure on whether I would do a spar varnish or a saturated oil finish I could renew occasionally. The varnish will degrade with UV light, and if is scales on you a "do over" isn't easy. Just my thoughts.
