I'm new to the list and recently converted a 20's style one car garage into a shop. To save space I built a small lean-to off the back. I insulated all the walls in the shop with Rockwool and everything is nice and quite. Fast forward I hadn't thought about the pressure from the cyclone. The shop is 15X20 and with the cyclone running it pull the outside doors shut. Cool trick, but its also pulling all the heat out and AC in the future.

So doing a little research I know I need to cut a hole thru the wall into the lean-to but looking for the best way to reduce the sound travel. I was thinking of adding a muffler. Something like this:

The other idea is to build a “maze box”.

Anyone have some experience with something like this would be great to hear from you.

Sorry Guys. I just realized this is being hashed out in another thread Folded plenum to tame cyclone noise? (http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?162225-Folded-plenum-to-tame-cyclone-noise) Couldn't figure out how to delete my thread or I would have.
