I had to work all day Saturday and thought that I wouldn't get to try out my new 1/2" gouge. It's nice to have a bigger one. Things go faster, I tried to turn something a little thinner. A critter hole showed up inside near the lip, and I was afraid to turn it out. A little bulge in the outside curve, again afraid to level out after I cleaned up a snag.
Sycamore about 7 1/4" wide and 2 3/4" tall.

That's a nice little bowl, and the form really highlights the spectacular medulary (sp?) rays inside the bowl.

That is a nice looking bowl Deane and I like the mill stone it's sitting on too.

Nice looking bowl Deane. I like the different form and stand base. It looks like you are finding some "softer" material. Before long, you will have too much wood on hand.

Looks good Deane. The sycamore looks nice. I am going to have to stare some more to see the items you pointed out. Nice.

Deane, you gotta be enjoying that new gouge!! I suspect it makes turning a lot more enjoyable. Good work on this one! I like turning sycamore - turns and finishes easily. It also is prone to Ambrosia, and that makes for some very nice wood!
