Hosanna! A gallery!

I met with the owner of a gallery here in Davis today. It's a pretty prestigious gallery here in No. Cal. and the guy shows a lot of "well known" artists. They seemed to especially like the "flower forms" and they took eight of them to display. It's not really the type of stuff they typically deal in so it's kind of a crap shoot for them and for me too. But I figure these things can't just keep piling up in my living room! They stuck some pretty hefty price tags on them and, even though I only get half, it's still going to great if they sell. Got my fingers crossed...

Thanx John. It's partly through your encouragement that I was able to summon the confidence to walk into a gallery with my turnings in the first place. And thanx to Charlie and Steve and David and Mark and everyone else who has taken the time to look at my stuff and comment on it over this last year. Now we'll see if any of them actually get sold!

David, Congrats. It is a good way to get your foot in the door. Another marketing avenue is to enter art contests. I do regional art competitions. No hopes about winning but it is a great way to get my name known and you never know, I may sell a piece or two.

This case is in the main lobby of the gallery and it's pretty prominent so even though I don't have "top shelf", it's not like the back room. the exciting part is that when I went in to get the pics, they told me that they have already sold the burgundy goblet! The buyer is supposed to come and get it this afternoon or tomorrow.

That's so Cool! Is this another Gallery or the one you referenced a week or 2 back? Either way, congratulations. Your work is phenomenal anyway so it really isn't a big surprise to those of us who have watched your turnings for the past year. With you being in California hopefully someone will want to do a weekly show on woodturning with you. My PBS channel is a hit or miss on catching Yoder and I think DIY hasn't ran Hout in a long time. So, it's time for DeCristoforo Show!
