I have access to a couple boxes of 3"x3"x1/4" cultured marble sample pieces. Does anyone have any experience with this product? Can it be worked with standard lathe turning tools. I though they might come in handy for accent pieces on some project down the road.

Paul, I have turned cultured marble. I recently had a bathroom sink and counter top installed that is made of it. I kept a few scraps because as a pen turner I just had to try it. It turns easy with normal tools but there are lots of voids do to air bubbles. The actual color is only a thin area on the surface. I made a couple of pens out of it and gave them to the contractor. They didn't turn out very pretty, but he was happy (I think). I used a little pic guard on the bigger pen hoping it would spruce it up a little. I think corian is better because the color/design is all the way through it.

Since the material is somewhat porus, would it accept dyes? Might work.....
