I have the opportunity to purchase the 17-950l, lightly used, for $275. Any opinions on whether that is a good deal? I know they go for $400 new but wondering about durability since its used.

I bought one on closeout from Lowes about 9 months ago for $200, so $275 seems a bit high to me. I will say, however, that I have been very happy with it thus far.

Wow, you got a great deal. Home Depot is selling them for $429 and Amazon has them for $399. I'm glad to hear you like yours because this is the model I was going for.

Mine had to have the bearings rebuilt due to excessive runout right out of the box. The table raising gearbox ate itself shortly after that but, since then (a few years) it has been fine. At least they were just defects and not out and out design flaws like some machines you come across. The head is the same design as the baby-Delta drill presses so the stops and so forth are like a hobby unit on steroids. They do work pretty well and I have seen mustard and mayo drill presses for double or more that aren't as nice. I paid just under $300 and feel that this DP is worth that amount comfortably based on the competition.

I've had this unit for about a year and absolutely love it.
