Last weekend I was turning a peppermill and I was having trouble getting a rounded corner/bevel junction the way I wanted it and I pushed things a little too far. I was focusing on getting things like I wanted it and wasn't paying attention to how thin I was getting things. I seemed to notice when I opened up a long hole in the junction! I decided to try and recover my mistake and make this a secondary peppermill for us. So I turned the design around, trimmed up the new top of the base and re-drilled the new bottom of the base to accommodate the grinding mechanism. Although the grain doesn't line up from the base to the top, I think it turned out OK for it's intended use. Then I turned another peppermill with the original design. In the picture, they only have one coat of Arm-R-Seal and the mechanisms aren't in yet but you get the idea.
