View Full Version : Sealing End Grain......possibly OT

I am building a set of Adirondack chairs for use outdoors. I'm using cedar for a couple of them and cypress for the other two (mainly so SWMBO can decide which she likes better).
I live in a land of opressively hot Summers with high humidity and a lot of rain (coastal SC) and I'm concerned about water wicking up into the end grain of the chair legs and shortening their lifespan. These will not be finished chairs as we like the "weathered" look. Is there anything I can do to seal the bottoms of the legs...or am I overly concerned?
Thanks......Butch.

That's a very good idea--almost a necessity. Use epoxy and apply all that it will absorb.
