Got this wood in a trade with another creeker. I think it was labeled when I got it, but the by the time I got to it, I couldn't see the writing anymore. I'm thinking it might be birch?
1st pic is the bark I pulled off of it, it came off in 1 piece. The 2nd & 3rd pics are a HF I turned from it today. When I cut into it, I found lots of spalting. This form was turned end grain, I did another yesterday turned face grain but forgot to take pics.
It was a little punky and tearout was a b****, but with sharp tools, light cuts and some shear scraping, got it to where the little bit of tear out left could be cleaned up by sanding.
