I just got back from a combination quilt shop/furniture store (husband/wife outfit).
The furniture store is "high-end," but ... no matter what piece I looked at, and without regard to where it was made ... the closer you looked, the worse things got.
Sloppy/gapped dovetails, non-square drawer boxes, rough, rough router work, blotchy finishes, etc., etc.
And I'm talking about things like little end tables that retail for a thousand bucks.
And I wouldn't -- and I'm quite sure none of you would -- let THAT quality come out of OUR shops.
So ... here's to US ... for being the LAST line of defense against ever-decreasing quality !!!
