Our family wanted a long narrow table we could keep in our living room. My wife uses it when she wants to use here laptop in the living room, and my son uses it while he does his homework.

Material is Red Oak with the pins made from a small piece of Honduran Rosewood I had on hand. The finish is just BLO and wax. The tiles are 12"x12" marble that my wife picked up at a bargain price somewhere.

I was lucky to have a piece of Red Oak on hand that had a nice curve to the grain that matched what I wanted for the front rail. This seemed to lighten the thing up a bit.

Very nice table. I like the marble touch. What process did you use on the legs if you dont mind me asking?

Joseph, The legs were actually glued up from 3/4" stock to make the final 1-1/2" thickness. I tried to orient the grain to have a rift sawed face showing on all sides.
I tapered the legs down to a little over 1" at the bottom using a table saw and a homemade tapering jig, then finished with a smoothing plane.

Looks like it fits the bill very nicely!!
